Fish Spotlight: Regal Angel

Fish Spotlight Friday: The Regal Angelfish (Pygoplites diacanthus)

The Regal Angelfish can be distinguished by its alternating pattern of yellow and black-edged white stripes. As delicate as it is exquisite, this striped beauty is best kept by expert aquarists with very large systems where they can find plenty of spaces to hide. It's also worth noting that the Regal Angel is very likely to nip at fleshy coral, especially Zoanthids and LPS, so care should be taken when adding this fish to an established reef aquarium.
